Not all passengers on a plane traveling to other countries via Kenya need to apply for a Kenyan visa if they disembark at a Kenyan airport and depart on the same plane or are transferred to another plane. But how can we know which countries are visa-free and what other alternatives exist for the rest? This is what we explain in this article. Standard processing time – This is the slowest processing time you can choose, but that doesn`t mean you have to wait weeks for your visa. In fact, the slower option means you have to wait 5 business days for your Kenya e-visa to arrive in your email. All you have to do is pay 93.00 USD. Not so bad, right? Currently, citizens of more than 40 countries can travel visa-free to Kenya. Most of these nationalities are entitled to a visa-free stay in Kenya for up to 90 days, although South African and Malaysian passport holders only have a total stay of 30 days without a visa. People working for the United Nations have the laissez-passer – a diplomatic travel document that allows them to visit foreign countries as part of official UN affairs. These people are exempt from applying for a Kenyan visa to visit the country. Children under the age of 16 are exempt from the visa requirement and therefore do not need a visa to visit Kenya. According to the government, an application must be made at least 7 days in advance and visitors can stay up to 90 days with an e-visa.  In a statement, Kibicho said: “The majority of these travelers are from Pakistan and have valid transit visas to Saudi Arabia issued upon arrival. In the future, the government will limit the number of foreigners traveling across the country to a level that does not pose a risk to Kenya`s national interests. However, ordinary passport holders from these countries are not exempt from the visa requirement for Kenya. You will need an approved visa for Kenya to travel to the country. This means that citizens of all five countries can enter Kenya without a visa. However, as of January 2021, all foreign citizens who are not visa-free for Kenya will need to submit a Kenya visa application online. This requirement was introduced to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading on border immigration lines and to eliminate the need for applicants to travel in person to an embassy or consulate to apply for a visa. Depending on the nationality, the traveler can obtain a Kenya e-Visa through a simple online application, eliminating the need to apply for a travel document in person from a Kenyan embassy or consulate. Although they do not need a visa for Kenya, the majority of these foreign citizens must have a passport on arrival that is valid for at least 6 months to enter the country. However, citizens of Uganda and Rwanda can simply enter Kenya upon presentation of a valid identity card.
